ExtraPuTTY licensing


ExtraPuTTY is based on PuTTY software which is developped by Simon Tatham team's under MIT license.

The ExtraPuTTY Licensing Model Version 2.2

We have chosen two licensing that directly or indirectly help us continue to evolve ExtraPutty.

ExtraPuTTY Licenses

The ExtraPuTTY executables are distributed under the Earth license as described below :

ExtraPuTTY Commercial Version
You may use the Software for the following purposes :
  • use for the development of proprietary and/or commercial software with ExtraPuTTY
  • use ExtraPuTTY in professional purposes
  • distribute ExtraPuTTY without restriction in commercial purposes
You must purchase a ExtraPuTTY Commercial License from Support page before you start developing commercial software,use ExtraPuTTY for professional activities or distribute ExtraPuTTY in commercial purposes. The Commercial license does not allow the incorporation of code developed with the GNU GPL versions.

Royalties :
There are no royalties, or other additional costs.

Purchase of Commercial Licenses :
The license is not sold, only sponsorship(*) are required. This license may be purchased and assigned to an individual or a compagny. To order a ExtraPuTTY Commercial License or for more informations please contact us.
(*) : help us on ExtraPuTTY project (translating help documents,offer a job...), add your compagny name and logo on our Partnering page, a blacklink or any other proposals otherwise we will study for each case the possibility of a straight commercial license.
Prohibited Activities. You may not:
  • use the Software in any application in which death, personal injury, or severe physical or property damage is a foreseeable consequence of Software use or failure including.
  • download or transfer the Software to: any country prohibited by french laws and regulations; any person or entity prohibited from receiving French exports; or any country which requires an import or use permit for encryption technology.
  • sublicense
  • modify ExtraPuTTY guideline
  • sell ExtraPuTTY or ExtraPuTTY license
  • transfer license (ie. to a branch, affiliated company, subcontractor ...)
ExtraPuTTY Free Version
You may use the Software for the following purposes :
  • for personal activities,for experimentation or self-training purposes
  • to distribute your derivative works free of charge without restriction under terms consistent with this license
  • to distribute ExtraPuTTY without restriction in non commercial purposes

The precise license text, as given in the About box and in the file license in the distribution and affect all ExtraPuTTY version since the 0.24 released.

In particular, there is no warranty and if ExtraPuTTY causes you damage you're on your own, so don't use it if you're unhappy with that.
